What are the benefits of abdominal liposculpture?
Because a lot of fat can be removed in the procedure, the results can be dramatic. Bulges will be greatly reduced or even disappear and men may find that the 'six-pack' they once had is still there. Women can look slimmer and more toned, as they did when they were younger. With a reduced abdomen size, your clothes will fit again, or you’ll have an excuse to go buy new ones because the fat is gone forever. It’s time to say goodbye to the jiggle and have the waist you’ve always wanted.
What areas of the abdomen can be treated?
The upper and lower abdomen, hips, flanks, and love handles can be treated effectively with AdvanceLipo. In some cases only one specific area is affected, such as a lower tummy bulge, but typically patients require a more comprehensive approach to permanent weight loss. Love handles are prevalent in men and should usually be combined with the lower abdomen procedure. Upper and lower abdomens are also usually treated in tandem. Only a consultation with our qualified staff will determine what’s right for you.
What is the procedure like for abdominal liposculpture?
Unlike traditional surgery, liposculpture for your abdominal area is quick, easy, and virtually painless. The procedure takes about a couple of hours and is performed by our AdvanceLipo experts.
- Patients are first analyzed in detail for the best possible results.
- After the analysis, patients are diagramed using a marker so that the doctor can custom shape your abdominal area in the most ideal fashion.
- Patients are then given lidocaine to numb the skin. There is no general anesthesia or IV sedation required. Our patients will walk out of the operation just as they walked in. You can chat with the doctor or assistants during the procedure or simply relax and listen to music, it is your choice.
- During the process he will use small puncture holes and small tube called a cannula, which is just a little bigger than the size of a ball point pen tip, in the areas selected for treatment. A solution is pushed into the fat to help break it up, numb and prepare fat cells for removal.
- After the local numbing takes place, Dr. Calhoun will typically use a combination of power assisted liposuction, laser assisted lipolysis, and/or ultrasound assisted lipolysis with the ultra small suction cannulas to produce not only the best results, but the quickest recovery time possible.
What results can I expect?
No one can promise that you will have the abdominal area of your dreams after our AdvanceLipo procedure; however you can be assured that a large volume of fat will be removed from on top of your abdominal muscle, resulting in an improved appearance. Not only will the fat be removed permanently, you will immediately see results. Whether or not you’ll have a ‘six-pack’ will depend on your abdominal muscles. No doctor can guarantee perfection with liposculpture, but improvement can be depended on.
Will I need skin tightening?
Skin tightening depends on how well your body produces collagen fibers. Using our AdvanceLipo technique, your skin will be tightened with a special laser, ultrasound, or power assisted liposuction during the procedure. Results will vary patient to patient and depend on many factors such as age, past weight loss, and skin laxativity. If you are interested in additional tightening, please bring it to our attention during your consultation.
How do I care for my abdominal area after the procedure?
After the procedure you will wear a compression garment that will assist in the absorption of fluid that may leak from the small holes used to remove the fat during the procedure. Small pads will sit between the garment and your skin to absorb the fluid for the 2-4 days following the procedure. Most patients will wear the garment for about a week. At our facility we notice swelling typically lasts for a few days, but the majority of swelling is resolved in the first 24 hours. No stitches are required after the procedure; the small holes will heal quickly on their own.
It’s a good idea not to shower for about 24 hours after the procedure and full immersion such as swimming or sitting in a hot tub should be avoided for about a week.
How long does it take to heal?
Age, health, and scope of the procedure are all determining factors in the recovery. The first compression garment is worn for about a week and bruising is usually gone in about 10 days. A secondary garment is worn for about 2-4 weeks following the procedure. Within two months nearly all patients report all symptoms are gone, that the abdominal are no longer swollen or puffy, and that both abdominal look and feel the same. For the typical patient to completely heal and be free of soreness it usually takes 3-8 weeks, however it varies greatly from patient to patient.
Most areas of the body swell for a couple of weeks to a couple of months after liposculpture. You will notice the difference right away and within a month or so you will be able to show off your beautiful new abdominal area.
When can I go back to work?
Some of our patients return to work immediately following the procedure or simply take the rest of the day off and return the following day. However, most patients typically take about 2 days off before returning to work. If your job requires physical activity such as for sports training, it may take a few days before you feel comfortable enough to return to work.
Can I combine abdominal liposculpture with other procedures?
Of course! Plus, our simple and affordable pricing structure means that additional areas cost less.
Many patients combine abdominal liposculpture with the thighs, love handles, flanks, or bra rolls. Whatever areas you choose, it is recommended to treat as many areas as safe in one procedure. However, there is a limit on how many procedures can be done in one treatment. Only a consultation with our qualified staff will let you know for sure.
